Mrs. Murphy's Emporium

All garments from THE MANTUA MAKER have included as part of the basic construction when called for:skirt pocket, fine piping, lining of polished cotton or fine cotton broadcloth, overcast bodice seams, separate hook and eyes hand stitched to the bodice, hand pleated or gauged waist which are hand stitched;  brush hem or hem guard and hem facing. The extras that "make" a specifically designed garment are at an additional fee. These generally involve hand work and I will give you definite pricing regarding any extra trims before I begin working on your garment.

Children's clothing will have grow hems and tucks when possible.

All my clothing is made following the design of period garments.  I particularly enjoy designing and making a garment in reproduction of a certain original.  If you have a CDV of a specific garment you would like to have copied, just ask about replicating it.

The process when ordering a custome made garment is that you first send me measurements as accurately as possible.  I will give you instructions in doing this. I will make a muslin, and send it to you.Or the ideal situation is for you to come to me for that initial fitting. We will work with the muslin until it fits properly and you and I are both satisfied.

I will then make a bodice of the garment fabric, and again send it to you for a fitting. If the muslin is fitted correctly, this step is just a "saftey net".

I will then proceed to complete your personally fitted garment designed for you alone.

All SHIPPING AND MAILING COSTS ARE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE BUYER. These costs and those of additional fees for trimming, buttons, buttonholes, etc. will be added to your final cost.
